Vagabond Paddington

This canalside wine bar in Sheldon Square has more than 100 wines available by the glass, with the whole concept built around trying different varieties. The location of this popular venue is great, too. Vagabond overlooks the canal around Paddington Basin, with outdoor seating when the weather is on good form. The Beachcomber sits beneath Queensway, a short hop from Paddington, and describes itself as London’s house of Agricole Rhum. In much simpler terms... it’s a basement tiki bar filled with bamboo, tropical decor, strong rum cocktails and, at the weekend, people who are much more interested in dancing than having a conversation.
As for drinks, the Beachcomber specialises in Rhum Agricole from the French Caribbean and claims one of the UK’s largest collections. Current signatures include drinks such as the Agroni at around £17.50 and the considerably more dangerous-looking Zombie at around £19.50. On Fridays and Saturdays, resident DJs play dancehall and bashment, the venue stays open until 2am, and the whole basement becomes much more of a late-night party bar. That makes The Beachcomber particularly good if you’ve booked an outgoing party girl escort and want to dance without committing to the dress codes, door policies and table spends of a Mayfair nightclub.

Dear Darling
